Nutrition awareness camp Report – Rasoolpura area
Introduction
Nutrition awareness and nutrition supplement distribution for pregnant women in Rasoolpura slum was conducted by our foundation, to create awareness regarding health and hygiene and nutrition awareness among the women.
Process
The nutrition awareness programme for (pregnant women) was conducted in association with Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). The facilitators explained about the Antenatal and post natal care, the importance of low cost nutritious food and its benefits to mother and child.
Nutrition supplements (Ragi powder per head 2kgs and chikki packets) were distributed to 90 pregnant women.

General health cum Cancer Camp ACL, NTR nagar, Suraram
General health cum Cancer detection camp was organized by our Alpha Foundation for underprivileged at NTR nagar, suraram on 16th July in association with Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Centre Hyd.
- Around 600 slum dwellers have availed the health services free medicines were dispensed.
- Doctors have conducted 52 Pap smear tests, 16 ultra scanning and 5 Mammography tests and 5 X rays for suspected cases.
- 21 women were detected suffering with cervical fungus.

Health cum Cancer detection camp at Community hall, B.S.Maktha 28th February 2008.
The Alpha Foundation in association with Indo-American Cancer Institute & Research Centre – Hyderabad we have conducted cancer screening camp. First the Doctors have created awareness among the community people regarding cancer, like they explained about what is a cancer and symptoms, types of cancer, reason for getting cancer and they said about the preventive methods and treatment at Indo-American hospital and about the government schemes like CM relief fund, PM relief fund and the concession cards etc.
Total 320 people were screened for cancer detection the Doctors have conducted following tests in camp are X ray, Ultra sound, Pap smear, and Mammography.
While screening the doctors has identified 15 women patients suffering with cervical fungus for these and for all general patients we have counseled and given medicines and for 3 positive cases we have counseled and referred to Indo American cancer hospital for treatment.

Total 580 people were screened for cancer detection the Doctors have conducted following tests in camp are X ray, Ultra sound, Pap smear, and Mammography.
While screening the doctors has identified 23 women patients suffering with cervical fungus for these and for all general patients we have counseled and given medicines.

Community Hygiene program |
Around 100 trainees of South Africa are on a 3 month training at NAC.As part of their community exposure program, with the coordination of The Alpha Foundation and in association with GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation), a “community Hygiene program” was organised at Krishna colony slum in New Hafeezpet. 100 participants toiled for 4 ½ hours and completed the activities of filling of pits on road with gravel and mud, clearing of shrubs and weeds, cleaning nalas for smooth flow of sewerage, planting of 50 saplings, spraying insecticide to kill mosquitoes.They have also spent time playing with the ACL(Alpha Center for Learning) children in the slum. |

| General Health cum Eye Camp at Weaker sections Colony near Borabanda, Hyderabad |
General Health cum Eye Camp was organized by The Alpha Foundation at Weaker sections colony community, Borabanda on 26th July ’08 i.e., Saturday in association with LDEI, Secunderabad and FPAI, Hyderabad.
Around 760 Patients have been screened in the camp. Medicines were also provided free of cost to all.
- One hundred and Eighty four (184) spectacles were given free of cost
- Twenty five (25) Cataract cases were found and referred to the Lions Dundoo Eye Institute for free cataract surgery and follow up
This time, One girl aged about Nine (9) Years was found with Cataract and referred to the institute for follow up |
